Episode 56: One way to reduce stress + hours when you're a leader

I was working with two clients (who are both leaders and managers) in the past week, and I was giving them both very similar coaching.

Whenever that happens, I think: I should make a podcast about this.

(Think this episode doesn't apply to you because you aren't an official "manager"? I define leadership quite broadly, so there's a good chance the ideas I share will be helpful to you, too.)

Today in this podcast episode, I'm sharing the same advice I shared with them. I'm talking about how to reduce stress + hours when you’re a leader — while keeping work quality the same, or frequently improving it.

My suggestion? Take on developmental coaching of your team.

Today I define "developmental coaching," and then make my case for how it frees up time, reduces stress, and increases quality of output. I also give some common pieces of guidance if you would like to start doing developmental coaching.

Developmental coaching doesn't just help you as a leader, it also may change your team members in a meaningful way. I hope you’ll take this opportunity to act on your behalf, and on theirs.
