10 Hours Back
A group coaching program for professionals to reduce their workweeks by 10 hours - without sacrificing quality
Only 1 spot left!
Let me guess: You’re smart, you work hard, and you like your job well enough.
But also, you’re tired. And slightly burnt-out, and you never seem to have enough time for many of the things you truly value — your family, your friends, exercise, sleep, hobbies.
Everyone else around you — your boss, your colleagues, your college roommates —everyone seems to be working more than they’d like. Everyone seems to be stretched a little too thin.
You care about doing good work at your job. But it sometimes feels like a zero-sum game: either go do good work at your job, or you have a life.
Sometimes you wonder: Do we all just grind until…retirement?
You’re not sure that you can. You certainly don’t want to.
I say: No. No, it doesn’t have to be this way.
I’ve coached dozens of professionals at all levels — from first jobs to C-suite — on how to get their work hours significantly down without sacrificing work quality, and get their freaking lives back.
In 10 Hours Back, I will help a small group of professionals reduce their workweek by 10 hours. No matter their work culture, industry, or boss.
This is about getting time back, but it’s also about getting your life back, your energy back, and your relationships back. While still doing high quality work — and having more fun in the process.
What you’ll gain from 10 Hours Back
10 hours back – each and every week
You’ll work 10 fewer hours each week, without reducing quality. I believe that if each person had 10 hours back each week, the world would be a better place.Feel less exhausted.
Many adults spend their whole working lives living with low-level exhaustion, burnout, and always feeling tight-and-stretched thin. Not only will getting 10 hours back help with that, but we’ll also talk about how to make your work and non-work lives more relaxing and restful.Stop feeling anxious or fearful
It doesn’t do you any good to work 10 fewer hours, if you spend the whole time feeling terrible + guilty. I’ll help you manage your mind, so you feel less anxious and far more confident.Feel less alone.
You’ll join a community of other people who are also breaking the mold, by finding ways to be good at their jobs, while also maximizing their time + pleasure in their out-of-work lives.Do better work — and enjoy it more.
Most people think that more hours are necessary for better work, but that’s usually not required, and often counter-productive. I’ll help you do better work — and have more fun and satisfaction, in the process.
What topics will we cover in 10 Hours Back?
How to develop insightful + creative solutions that solve your team’s greatest problems, while also working less.
If you are more effective within a very manageable workday, you don’t have to work longer hours.
How to be less compulsive about email, Slack, IM, and other technology.
It’s sucking up your time, and killing your mental sharpness. How to become more skillful at taking powerful breaks — at work, and in your off-time.
There’s a skill to taking breaks in a way that maximizes your effectiveness. (It doesn’t usually involve instagram.)How to be less afraid or anxious about working less
Ever thought, “If I work less, I might miss something important,” or “Oh my boss is going to be so mad if I reduce my working hours?” Or had any kind of other anxious, fearful thought about working less? How to enjoy your work more.
You’ll be reconnecting with what’s actually meaningful and joyful about your work (and your life) and cultivating more of it. Work feels easier when it’s more fun.How to have a life that’s more satisfying, meaningful, and fun.
What do you like to do, beyond going on Netflix every night? You’ll reconnect with what’s most important to you — family, friends, that favorite yoga class, the novel you haven’t touched in a while, and any other activity that brings you joy — and start to do more of it.And much more!
Testimonials
“I don't even know where to begin with this review because I want to gush about Katie but still sound sincere. I was in a rut last year, not clinically depressed but my unhappiness in my career was pulling down all parts of my life and I didn't know how to process some rough job events that had occurred over the past couple years.
“Katie is kind, funny, perceptive, and tenacious. I feel like I'm a lighter, happier version of myself and a better partner, friend, and coworker than I was a year ago (my boyfriend outwardly agrees to anyone I say that to).”
“Katie really is a miracle worker.”
— Danielle
”As someone who has stayed far away from any kind of emotionally-driven work (even certain types of meditative yoga are too hokey for me), I was finally too burned out and needed a new way to address my fatigue and the unsatisfactory feeling of "having everything" without feeling like it.
”Through Katie, I've developed the skills—not to mention a comprehensive toolkit I refer to daily—on how to work through issues that come up for me. I've entirely restructured my outlook and approach to work and "life," but I've also tapped into high-quality productivity that I didn't foresee at all--which was only made possible by Katie's inquisitiveness, razor-sharp focus, generosity, and patience.”
— Sunny
”I would have considered myself already highly organized, planned, and analytical, but the benefits of having someone like Katie - someone extremely qualified, empathetic, and unrelated - provide fresh, personalized, and grounded support cannot be understated.
“These are lessons that I could potentially have learned "on my own" after another 1-2 decades of life experience, but the fact I have made such progress in 12 months means that working with Katie has easily been the best investment I've made in myself in my adulthood.”
— Olivia
About me
Hi, I’m Katie! I’m an experienced, skillful life coach — but before that, I’ve been a management consultant at McKinsey, and worked at an edtech start-up. In other words, I know what it feels like to have a life that looks pretty good on paper, but doesn’t feel as good as I’d like it to.
I love my work profoundly — it’s genuinely a calling for me — but I also love not working. My favorite activities include: finding new bakeries to source high-quality baked goods, taking tango classes, reading romance novels, and cruising around town with my twin toddlers on the back of my electric bike.

Yes! On our 90-minute group coaching calls, I will be coaching by pointing out blind spots, offering you new ideas or ways of thinking about a problem, and helping you make sure your homework will be doable and effective.
I’ll also be available over email for support between sessions, and we’ll have a 1:1 planning call at the end of the program.
I will be there every meeting except our meeting on June 1. My wonderful colleague Sarah Murphy-Kangas will be running that session — I’ve been in many groups facilitated by her, and really personally benefited from them — I’m excited for you to get the benefit of her wisdom, as well. -
I’d recommend coming to most calls, but if you have to skip a call or two, no worries! Every call will be recorded and posted on our group portal, so you’ll be able to watch or listen to it later — and still have access to all of the new material, exercises, and the chance to watch your fellow group-members get coached.
You’ll also still get the same homework assignment, and you’ll be checking in with your group over email between sessions, too! So you’ll still feel in-the-loop, and make forward progress. -
I’ve worked with clients in a wide range of industries — from technology to entertainment to marketing to government to non-profit — with a wide range of jobs, and a wide range of skills. In my experience, most people believe that they can’t reduce their hours when we start working together…but are very happy when I prove them wrong.
But, there have also been a few situations where due to the structural realities of the job, and the preferences of the person, I’m not able to help them reduce their hours. In that case, I don’t take the person on as a client, and I’m honest with them that I don’t think I can help them.
My suggestion would be to book an interest call with me — I’ll be very straightforward with you about whether I think 10 Hours Back would be useful to you.
